ABOUT SAN PEDRO DE TIMOTE - in their own words:
San Pedro de Timote was founded in 1854 by Pedro Jose Jackson on the lands of an ancient cattle farm of the Jesuit fathers. Through the years it has remained one of the important cattle ranches of Uruguay. In 1997 it was declared a Historical National Monument because of its architectural style, the design of its outdoor sites, the natural scenery that surrounds it and the testamonial values that it represents.

Today San Pedro de Timote has been totally refurbished to be a "Hotel de Campo", with all the services and amenities needed for a pleasant stay.

Rooms are divided between the historic main house and the family's guesthouse. All rooms are decorated in the country style and have heating; most have private bathrooms. In the main house there are multiple sitting areas, many with fireplaces which are lit in the evening. There is a small bar and a dining room, both with fireplaces. Cuisine is traditional country, served buffet style.

There is an indoor pool and two outdoor pools, a playroom, two TV rooms with one having a 61" TV and DVD player, a tennis court and other recreational facilities.

There is a Chapel for 150 persons and a small convention center.

A day at the Estancia begins with breakfast, then we go riding on hoarseback or on a cart pulled by a tractor to accompany the country tasks carried out by our personnel on that day. We can also go for walks according to a schedule which depends on the general profile of the guests at the estancia.

We return to the homestead with time enough to swim, practice some sports or just plain relax. We have lunch, some free time and then we head out into the forest.

After we return from this outing, guests may visit the dairy farm and watch the milking. Then an afternoon snack is served.

After dinner, a photographic hunting takes place and we go on another outing to try to find the wild animals present on the estancia. Usually our guests get very close to them since these animals lack the fear that makes them run away.
