Quito Some Don'ts
|
The "Some Don'ts" are easy and nothing you would not normally take into consideration when visiting any part of the world:
Don't drink the tap water - the chemicals are different that we are use to. Stick with bottled water.
Don't walk in darkened streets alone at night.
Usa ATMs only in well lit and well frequented places.
Don't forget your hat and sun screen - Ecuador is located on the equator and the sun rays are direct. You can easily burn, even on a cloudy day.
Leave your passport and other valuables and excess cash locked away safely in your hotel room.
Use the taxis from the hotel or let the restaurant call you a taxi; don't flag one down one from the street, especially at night.
Don't forget everything you buy to take home, has to get home. Only allow the better shops to ship for you. Otherwise be prepared to take with you what you buy, bearing in mind any luggage restrictions if you are going to the Galapagos or rainforest.
