ABOUT THE POUSADA DO AMPARO -in their own words:

POUSADA DO AMPARO is a delightful place and you can notice that since the first moment when you get in the place by the front door. It is certainly influenced by the atmosphere of the street which has the same name, where you can find the highest number of artist per square meter all over Brazil. If there is an exaggeration in the statement above, it is not still enough to express the great number of artists living (or getting inspiration?) there.

An art gallery show the work of several painters of Pernambuco State, taking advantage, with a rare aesthetic efficiency, of the right support which takes the roof up to 12 meters high. The walls bringing the history of more than 2 centuries seem to be happy hanging paints of Virgulino, Calazans, Vila Nova, Bajado and others.

The 2 colonial houses which form the POUSADA DO AMPARO have some more nice surprises.  The kitchen, for instance, with its rustical colonial style, has the furniture made with rare wood. It combines the old form table (occupying the central part of the kitchen) with modern equipment, being at the same time a practical and charming place.

The eighteen apartments from the POUSADA DO AMPARO are wide with a large use of wood as a constructive element. This restrict number of apartments have the comfort of air conditioning systems and some with a jacuzzi and art work spread in the whole enviromment. They have structures and dimensions that make them different one from another. Some have a wide varanda with a view to Recife and others with a view to Amparo street.  All accommodations have:

As the backyard is located in the back side of a hill (just a few meters away from "Alto da Sé") you can have an extraordinary and wide view of Recife. You will see a well refined use in the the several plans where the gardens were planted with a remarkable presence of several species and colors of Bouganvilleas. In this ecological scenario where you listen birds singing, two atractive swimming pools (one for children) live in harmony with old centenary trees.

The POUSADA DO AMPARO has a cosy bar in the basement close to the stone foudations which rise the history, reminding a wine-cellar where you can taste some special wines and other drinks as well as fine liqueurs.
