Argentina El Metejon near Buenos Aires |
"An all-polo
experience" - in their own words: After a light breakfast, the horses await you, ready to be mounted. Three are 60 horses for every level of rider: there are no excuses not to get on to a horse and take the plunge at individual practice. "In Europe they use a lot of theory", explains Diego Richini, "but here we do everything on horseback. I could load you with theory, but when you get on the horse, it's a mess! If you practice with the pony, then you'll really get the hang of it". All morning is devoted to stick-and-balling. For those who need it, there is always a polo player who can offer them lessons. In the afternoon 4-chukker games are played with teams made up of a maximum of 2 foreigners on each team. "It takes three exhausting days before you are really fit and playing well once the week is up", adds Richini. Once you feel the adrenaline in your veins over this sport, you will start to really "feel" polo. That is when polo becomes an addiction and there's no turning back. The club has 4 polo fields, one of which is "all weather" field, which means players can get up a game shortly after a shower; 32 boxes (plus a project for 250 extra boxes) and 300 acres of open farmland. |
"Enjoy all the tournaments" - in their own words:
El Metejon Summer Cup: El Metejon organizes an international tournament every year, in November, During the rest of the year, when more than four foreigners get together here, we organize tournaments with teams made up of 2 foreign players and 2 Argentine. The fun starts at the beginning of the week with the practice matches, where the players try out and choose the horses they wish to compete on. For the more demanding, El Metejon can arrange tournaments sponsored by the Argentine Polo Association (AAP).
The AAP's Open Tournaments: Between October and December the most important tournaments organized by the Argentine Polo Association (AAP) take place: The Tortugas Open, The Hurlingham Open and the Argentine Open (Palermo). Renowned the world over as the top level tournament, the Argentine Open draws teams of up to 40 goals. If you wish to enjoy these open tournaments, we offer you the best bid: Diego Richini escorts his guests to the main games.
Women are considered "special guests" at El Metejon: Polo lovers will have the privilege of learning to play with Maria Chavanne, one of the best known women polo players. For those who prefer to abstain from this, we can offer incredible massage sessions, gym classes, rides around the farm and excursions to Buenos Aires to go shopping at the best boutiques.
In November, the women invade the polo grounds at El Metejon for the Annual El Metejon Women's Tournament. The winners get a week's free stay, complete, to play polo at El Metejon.
