ABOUT LA COMARCA, HOTEL CON ENCANTO - in their own words:
La Comarca, Hotel con Encanto is
situated in beautiful Purmamarca, heart of
the mythical ravine, Quebrada de Humahuaca, included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site
List. A mere 50 km distance from the City of Jujuy and 180 km away from the City of Salta.
The Hotel's singular architectural style is inspired in the region's landscape and
culture, harmonized with the special natural surroundings. Its warm interiors are built
using materials obtained from the area such as cactus wood, stone, hand-hewn timber wood,
quebracho and poplar wood, canes and clay resulting in a modern uncluttered design.
The Hotel has
an open structure, organized around a central square where a group of double rooms, cabins
and cottages can be found, terrace-style, as though recreating the typical Andean caserío
or 'cattle ranch'. Each room is decorated with a personal touch, fusing handicrafts and
paintings by local artists with vanguard designs, thus achieving unique surroundings.
La Comarca's gardens enhance the species of autochthonous flora and combine with the
intense green of the alfalfa fields and the backdrop of multicolored mountains. A clear
stream cuts across the square, the water's pleasant murmuring sounds drifting throughout
the area.
THE ACCOMMODATIONS
A prominent feature is the tasteful decoration and generosity of spaces,
combining art and decoration with the most modern of comforts.
Standard -
Standard rooms have a 27 meter squared surface area. All have central heating and a
minibar. The large windows let in the view of the colorful landscape created by the
mountains and the picturesque central square.
Suite -
The Suite has a surface area of 90 meters squared and consists of a double storey,
providing a one-of-a-kind view of the mountains through the luminous windows. A spacious
living room area with easy chairs and a desk is an ideal place in which to relax after the
day's excursions. On the upper floor is the comfortable bathroom with a minibar and TV, a
spacious bathroom with Jacuzzi and two terraces, one looking out on the central square and
the other over alfalfa fields.
Houses - The Houses
have surface areas of either 100 or 120 meters squared. They have 3 and 5 rooms,
respectively, divided into 1 and 3 bedrooms, a living area, a dining area, a kitchen and a
terrace with a barbeque area, accommodating from 3 to 6 persons.
Cabins -
The Cabins can accommodate up to 4 persons. The 60 meter squared surface area is divided
into a bedroom, a living room with breakfast area and kitchenette, besides a private
terrace with a mountain view. Its broad fireplace cozily invites one to enjoy a glass of
wine while contemplating Purmamarca's velvet sunsets, at the closing of a memorable day.
SPA
The La Comarca Hotel con Encanto spa allows you to enjoy a relaxing moment while
taking in the splendid view of the mountains. Sauna, jacuzzi, gymnasium, heated swimming
pool, massages and beauty treatments are just some of the options the hotel's guests have
to choose from and which are ideal to attain maximum relaxation after a joyous day on one
of the varied excursions available here. The spa includes a bar service so you will be
able to enjoy a wide variety of natural fruit juices, salads and refreshments that are
served on the pool terrace.
GYM
The La Comarca Gymnasium is located next to the spa with a beautiful view of the
mountains. Its modern equipment, including treadmills, bicycles, weights, etc., provides
different alternatives for aerobics or weightlifting, which are supervised by professional
personal trainers. After your workout, you can
enjoy a swim at the heated pool or a relaxing session of aromatherapy massage, reflexology
or ball therapy.
RESTO
La Comarca's restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. The Chef invites
guests to try out a blend of regional, modern and international dishes. From the classical
empanadas (stuffed pasties), humitas en chalas (a traditional Inca dish served wrapped in
corn-leaf parcels) to carpaccio de llama (carpaccio made with llama meat), quinoa (a
grain) and the Andean potato, trout from the Yala lagoons and Gourmet cuisine, every meal
is sure to be a memorable one. A peaceful, classical environment with great windows
allowing you to contemplate the Quebrada's one-of-a-kind view.
CAVA
La Comarca's cava wine cellar offers wine tasting to those with more
seasoned palates. The cellar ages select wines form excellent harvests by the best
Argentine wineries from Patagonia, Cuyo and the fine wines from the highlands of Salta.
Also a unique opportunity for small get-togethers in a private setting.
